Psoas Muscle Hydatid Cyst Causing Ureteric Compression and Hydronephrosis
Psoas muscle is a rare location for hydatid disease. Here we present a case of infected hydatid cyst left psoas muscle presenting as left flank pain, fever, local flank tenderness, and raised blood counts. Pre-operative diagnosis was made by Ultrasonography (USG) and Computed Tomography (CT) abdomen, although serology for hydatid disease was negative.
متن کاملVentral extradural spinal meningeal cyst causing cord compression: neurosurgical treatment.
Spinal extradural meningeal cysts are typically formed by a thin fibrotic membranous capsule, macroscopically similar that of an arachnoid membrane, filled by cerebro spinal fluid and related to a nerve root or to the posterior midline. Ventral location is extremely rare and when it occurs they usually cause spinal cord herniation through the ventral dural gap. A 61 year-old man who began with ...
متن کاملPrimary Sacral Hydatid Cyst Causing Cutaneous Fistula.
Echinococcus granulosus and Echinococcus multilocularis are the causes of hydatid disease and the main characteristic is endemic. Generally, it affects the liver and lungs. Spinal hydatidosis accounts for less than 1% of the cases. Vertebral hydatidosis is usually silent and a slowly progressive disease with a long latent period. Another rare form is the primary sacral hydatid cyst. Generally, ...
متن کاملHydatid cyst of interventricular septum causing left anterior hemiblock.
A case is reported of left anterior hemiblock and right bundle-branch block produced by a hydatid cyst of the interventricular septum. The electrocardiographic changes are attributed to the great distortion produced by the cystic mass in the septum, with elongation of the right and left anterior bundles. The depth of the S waves in leads II, III, and aVF is in close relation with the degree of ...
متن کاملCyst hydatid case ruptured after awake intubation causing difficult airway
Encountered throughout the history, the cyst hydatid is a parasitary disease caused by Echinococcus Granulosus. Its prevalence in Turkey is presumed to be around 50 per 100 thousand (1). Cyst hydatid settles in the liver almost at a rate of 60% and about 30% in the lungs. The cysts settling in the lungs are generally solitary and asymptomatic (2). However, it provides findings in some patients ...
